Infineon Technologies AG (Infineon) has introduced a wireless control applications for the next generation of highly integrated transmitter IC. New SmartLEWIS MCU PMA71xx series all models are equipped with a sub-1GHz ISM frequency for the ASK / FSK multi-band transmitter, and through specific embedded mixed-signal peripherals, enhanced 8051 microcontroller. Built SmartLEWIS MCU can be radio frequency remote control (RF) technology to replace the commonly used infrared (IR) transmitter technology to overcome the shortcomings of sight communications. In addition, for RF applications up to the transmission distance of 50 meters, and infrared technology has only a few meters. PMA71xx product is the world’s first multi-band transmitter, in a chip on the cover of the four ISM frequency bands (315 MHz, 434 MHz, 868 MHz and 915 MHz).

Infineon Technologies AG, wireless controller and radar business marketing director Rolf Hertel said: “Our SmartLEWIS MCU family helps audio and video equipment, blinds, and home automation system using RF technology based on cost-effective, durable wireless control control, abandon the use of less convenient line of sight communications remote control. SmartLEWIS MCU series of highly integrated, allowing customers to use a few external components to design a complete wireless control system. In addition, we also provide ready to use software framework and powerful function library, it can greatly shorten the product development cycle. by multi-band transmitter and microcontroller integrated with several other peripherals on a chip, Infineon mcu as the number of wireless control system provides a very flexible solution. “

Integrated MCU, a transmitter for wireless controller ICs

In addition to carrying 6kB flash memory and 10 of the 8051 microcontroller GPIO outside, SmartLEWIS MCU series integrates all the models are an N PLL synthesizer and a high power amplifier (output power adjustable) consisting of RF transmitters.

Embedded multi-channel 10-bit DAC with a flexible high-gain settings, a variety of analog sensors can be used as an interface, such as pressure sensors, temperature sensors or humidity sensors.

Built-in 125kHz low-frequency (LF) receiver is designed to make battery-powered wireless wake-up function, but also to achieve non-contact device configuration to create the conditions. The product line of peripherals, including data format encoder / decoder, 16-bit CRC generator / checker, a pseudo-random number generator and several timers. Associated firmware function library provides powerful functions, such as AES encryption function. The firmware is stored in on-chip ROM, saving valuable memory space.

All models in this product family is specially designed to achieve the power saving mode, the minimum power consumption as low as 500 nA (electrical typical value), along with advanced power control system, helps to extend battery run time. Their operating temperature range is -40 ℃ to 85 ℃, can meet the requirements of industrial products.

So far, SmartLEWIS MCU family consists of 4 products. Each product is designed for wireless control applications, such as home automation devices, security and alarm systems, home entertainment devices and automatic meter reading systems.

SmartLEWIS MCU PMA7105 for RF remote control and digital sensor systems;

SmartLEWIS MCU PMA7106 for use with 3-channel 10-bit ADC (with flexible gain settings, and differential input) analog sensors connected to the wireless sensor applications;

Infineon SmartLEWIS MCU PMA710 provided by installation of a 125 kHz LF receiver for applications that require non-contact wireless wake-up device configuration applications, such as active tags;

SmartLEWIS MCU PMA7110 is PMA71xx highest signal integrated series of applications that require 10-bit ADC and LF receiver’s advanced wireless systems.
