Leading up to the start of the regular season, the National Football League had milestones where each team has to cut their roster down to a certain number of players. By the start of the regular season the final roster will be down to 53 players, but teams recently worked to pare down their rosters to 75 players coming into the final week of preseason games. One team that made major moves during this cut was the Cincinnati Bengals. Instead of dropping names that no one has heard of, the Bengals made more aggressive cuts. Below is a list of players who were recently affected by roster moves by the Bengals. Fans can see the remaining players by getting Cincinnati Bengals tickets for this season.

Antonio Bryant, Wide Receiver: Bryant was perhaps the biggest move during this round of roster cuts. It could be viewed as expected or surprising, depending on the perspective. Bryant only came to the Bengals this season and was given a lucrative deal after it was determined his knee injury wouldn’t affect him. The knee, though, did act up and kept Bryant out of practices. Cutting him means that the Bengals are out of millions of dollars in guaranteed money this year, but they also have enough proven receivers, like longtime star Chad Ochocinco and newly-added veteran Terrell Owens. Bryant spent last season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and played in 13 games, starting 11. He tallied 600 yards and four touchdowns.

Rashad Jeanty, Linebacker: The Bengals cut ties with Jeanty after he was unable to perform at the same level following a broken leg during last season’s playoffs. Jeanty had been with the Bengals since he entered the league in 2006. His best season for the team came in 2008, when he started all but one game. That season, he had 96 tackles, two passes defended and two forced fumbles.
Tom Nelson, Safety: Nelson underwent knee surgery in the offseason, and the Bengals placed him on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. Last season was his first in the league and his first with the Bengals. He joined the Bengals as an undrafted free agent. In 12 games, he had three starts, 25 tackles, two passes defended and one interception.

Gibril Wilson, Safety: Wilson was placed on injured reserve because of damaged ligaments in his left knee. This season is Wilson’s first with the Bengals. He started his career with the New York Giants in 2004. By his second season, he had worked his way to a starting position. He remained with the Giants through the 2007 season. In 2008, he played for the Oakland Raiders and then for the Miami Dolphins in 2009. In his career, he has tallied 582 tackles, 8.5 sacks, 31 passes defended, 14 interceptions and seven forced fumbles.

Mike Windt, Long Snapper: The Bengals waived long snapper Mike Windt. He is a rookie who attended the University of Cincinnati. Before being released, Windt played in every preseason game for the Bengals.
