One of the most essential elements for concluding the outcome of an aggregation’s effort of any nature is the excellence of the management that’s directing the organization. I saw this firsthand whilst I was deployed in Iraq – our leadership forbade anyone from driving a vehicle to and from the habitating areas, yet did so themselves almost from the get-go. And that’s simply a single citation of how they misused their jurisdiction and authority.
Balance
persisting from the idea of the worthless power I dealt with while in Iraq, favoritism is another subject that comes to mind. If that particular collection of leaders didn’t favor you, you indisputably knew it. Some of the green troops everlastingly got picked out for extra duty, had their promotions repressed and were disciplined harshly for things other people were known to be doing and perpetually “got away with,” like fraternizing. (All of our leaders were particularly infamous for doing THAT.) It was generally speaking a repugnant example and absolutely destroyed any loyalty I had to my leaders, or belief I had for their power. What me and for all practical purposes everyone else in my unit DID have was resentment, a lowered work standard and a severe reduction in morale overall.
Brashness
If you can determine where I’m going with this, then you can at present tell that being a qualified leader is an exercise in the highest degree of ethicalness and individual ethos. If you require these, then you will lack the deference of your troops, or whoever else you’re charged to administer. Similarly, even if you’re above-board, impartial and dependable, if you lack the nerve to make difficult choices then you are every bit as useless as a chief who simply does not care. I had a sergeant in Iraq who was wholly cowardly, and would not even chastise me when I had done something erroneous. Instead, he sent me to one of the officers in our company for an upbraiding, which is more or less the DEFINITION of what a sergeant’s charge is.
I hope this does not indicate to you that being a wise leader means you always end up getting the shaft, or that there are not any dutiful leaders left out there. There were a great deal of adept leaders in Iraq also, and whenever you encountered one you knew it. They stirred loyalty and favor at once from the ways they directed their troops, and were a regular motivator to endeavor to make strides generally speaking, and perhaps one day be as proper a leader as they were themselves.
