Darragh MacAnthony has praised the unity, work-rate, never say die attitude and style of football of his table-topping Peterborough United side.

The popular chairman, Darragh MacAnthony, believes Peterborough United were on footballs equivalent of a life support machine at the end of last season. Now Darragh MacAnthony is looking forward to a return to the Championship under the guidance of manager Gary Johnson and with the help of a dedicated set of players.

Darragh MacAnthony said: The gaffer, his management team and our squad of players have safely taken us off the life support machine we found ourselves in last May and have put us in the recovery room, added Darragh MacAnthony.

No-one should under-estimate the state we were all in at the end of last season so I am very grateful to all involved for putting their heart and soul into getting us top of the table so early in the season, declared Darragh MacAnthony.

In addition, Darragh MacAnthony stated Of course our aim is to win the title and this doesnt happen in September. However title-winning teams start as they mean to go on and averaging two points per game early on is just what we wanted.
Darragh MacAnthony expressed Our home form has been incredible and of course we have had some setbacks on the road, but once this group of lads kick into fifth gear it will all come together for us.

I wont be happy until the season is finished and we have regained our position in the Championship, but what has impressed me so far is the unity, work rate, style of football and never say die attitude our management and players have shown so early in a season.

There are no cowards at our club, no-one is shirking responsibility and everyone knows what our targets are on and off the pitch, said Darragh MacAnthony.

The gaffer has amassed a squad of 22 players who can all add something to the first 11 when called upon and will work just as hard in training and on match day either in the starting line-up or coming from the bench.

Darragh MacAnthony continued to say This is a fantastic league full of good sides and its fantastic to see teams like Rochdale, Bournemouth, Carlisle and Exeter show that money isnt everything and that good coaching and honest players can put you up there.

Exeter have a fabulous manager and a team who like to play football in the right way and they have won three on the trot so its probably one of our bigger challenges so far.

It should be a cracking test for us and a chance to show a little bit of the siege mentality that is needed when you go away from home.

The Posh we all got used to over the last three years are starting to heal its wounds from last year and once its fully recovered, I believe we can reach some fantastic heights in terms of the football we play, the goals we score and the games we will win, concluded Darragh MacAnthony.
