If you are looking into the use of scissors within a salon environment, you will notice that there are quite a few uses for them. Not only can they be used to cut through different materials, but they can also come in handy when it comes to nail art design. The only thing that you shouldn’t use them on is nails.

Using Scissors on pre-Tailored Tips

Whilst you shouldn’t use any type of scissors to cut the nails, it is sometimes possible to cut artificial tips with them. It works better if you use scissors which have a curved blade as that will help to keep the shape of the tip more than straight blade scissors would.

When using scissors to cut natural nails it would place too much pressure onto the nail. Even if you make several cuts instead of one long cut, it will still potentially cut the skin under the nail or cause the nail to chip. For that reason it would be a good idea to avoid using any form of scissors to cut the nails. Even cutting pre tailored tips can be stressful if it isn’t done correctly.

If you are using them to cut pre-tailored tips then you will find that they really help to remove the contact area. You may need to remove the side of the tip too but that typically only occurs in rare occasions.

Using Scissors and Tip Cutters for Other Reasons

Scissors can also be used to cut through fabric within the salon. A pair of long blade scissors will come in extremely useful when it comes to cutting overlay fabric. That is often too delicate to be cut with anything else and so long bladed scissors definitely make the job easier!

Tip cutters are another tool that can easily be used within a nail salon. They can look quite lethal as they are designed to be heavy duty clippers. This is because they are used to cut through tough artificial tips and so they need to be hard wearing and powerful. You can compare their appearance to the clippers used by vets to clip animal claws.

Both scissors and tip cutters are not used directly on the skin. This means that you do not have to go mad when it comes to cleaning them. Tip cutters will need cleaning more than scissors but a simple wipe over with a solvent should be sufficient.

Overall it is definitely a good idea to have both tip cutters and a few pairs of scissors in your nail salon. They will help you with a number of different tasks and they require no maintenance at all.
